Great collage! I love the use of grids and the overlapping elements–and the story!

Thank you! That was my first serious collage. It was quite a large piece and at the time I didn’t know how to overcome that boxy look. I’m glad you like it. I have done several more since with the goal being to remove that grid appearance. I was more successful in those later ones. I have a few more I’d like to post, they are just so darn difficult to photograph because of the high gloss of the magazine paper. Maybe I’ll get outside to do it soon, if Mother Nature ever lets up on us. 🙂

I photograph a lot of collage and I’ve found I can’t use a flash or have a light directly shining on my work. The best place I’ve found is in a North window or a bright room on a cloudy day. I like grids, they lead the eye around your work and you did a nice job with some overlapping elements so it didn’t look boxy at all. Looking forward to seeing your other collages.

Well thanks. Usually I photograph outside on a cloudy day….sometimes I try to take shortcuts and just snap a pic whenever…Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
